ALICE HUGHES

Class of 1948-S

While a student nurse at St. Francis Hospital, Alice Hughes participated in the U. S., World War II Cadet Nursing Corps. Her membership card indicates that she lived on Hale Street, Pittsburgh, and she was the daughter of George Hughes, an Electrical Repairman.

The Hughes family is found on Hale Street in the 1940 Federal Census, at which time George Hale, and his wife Louisa (Householder), had the following children: Betty (Elizabeth), 20, Margrett, 16, Alice, 12, Delores, 10, George, 9, Joseph, 7, Jeanne, 3.

Alice Mae Hughes, born in Pittsburgh on July 16, 1927, died on March 29, 1998, at which time her name was Alice Magrey. Her husband, Michael A. Magrey, died on February 7, 1989.
