OBITUARY

Marian Horner Scowcroft, 72, an area resident since 1964 who was a member of Catholic Church of the Annunciation in Washington, died July 17 at George Washington University Hospital. She had diabetes.

She was the wife of Brent Scowcroft, the retired Air Force lieutenant general and the Bush White House national security adviser. The Scowcrofts were married in 1951.

Mrs. Scowcroft, of Bethesda, was born in Pennsylvania and grew up in Syracuse, N.Y. She was a 1944 graduate of St. Francis Hospital School of Nursing in Pittsburgh and received a bachelor's degree in nursing education from Columbia University.

Mrs. Scowcroft accompanied her husband on military assignments in the United States and Yugoslavia. Since settling in the Washington area, she had participated in church volunteer activities.

In addition to her husband, of Bethesda, survivors include a daughter, Karen Scowcroft of New York; a sister, Helen Piergeorge of Jupiter, Fla.; and a brother, William K. Horner of San Diego.

Note: Marian's sister, Helen Horner, graduated in the St. Francis School of Nursing Class of 1946-F.
