JULIA HOLLERAN CAREY

Julia Holleran was born about 1918 to John Holleran and Edna M. Kolb, both born in Pennsylvania.

At the time of the 1920 Federal Census, taken in January 1920, John E. and Edna Holleran, residents of Monaca, Beaver County, Pennsylvania, had two daughters, Julia C., age 1 year 4 months, and Mildred R., age 2 months. Mr. Holleran worked in the steel mill. The Hollerans later had a son, John Lee Holleran.

In 1940, Julia Holleran, 21, was a student nurse at St. Francis Hospital and she lived in the nurses' residence. The record indicates that she lived in Monaca, Beaver County, in 1935.

Julia married John Edward Carey. His parents were Patrick J. Carey (d 1964), born in Ireland, and Hannah Kirby (d 1969). Their sons were John E., Joseph C., and Edward F. Carey.

From a list of Registered Nurses, 1940-1941, published by the Louisiana State Board of Nurse Examiners: "Julia H. Carey, 345 Wyoming Ave., Scranton." This license expired in 1972, and is not confirmed as being this graduate.

FATHER'S OBITUARY: Independent, Long Beach, California, Dec 18, 1973 - John Edward Holleran, age 83, passed away Sunday. Survived by wife, Edna; son, John L. Holleran; daughters, Julia Carey and Mildred Brown; 17 grandchildren; 1 great grandchild.....

John Edward Holleran died in Los Angeles, California in 1973. His wife, Edna, died there in 1985. John Lee Holleran died on October 6, 2011 at age 84. Mildred Rita Holleran Brown died March 15, 1993.

According to a cousin, Julia Holleran and her husband eventually moved to California. This is likely Julia Holleran Carey:
