Growing up in Groveton, Pa., Peggy was an excellent student who after attending Groveton Elementary School, pleaded with her parents to attend Our Lady of Sacred Heart High School, then an all girls school, with 13 girls in her class. It was during her high school days, while working in a pet store in Sewickley, that she met the love of her life Bill Hartman, who was a stock boy at the A&P, now Safran's Market. Graduating from OLSH in 1957, she enrolled in The St. Francis School of Nursing in Pittsburgh. After graduation, she immediately was employed at Sewickley Valley Hospital. Marriage followed with Bill going into the Army. When Bill returned from his tour in Japan, he and Peggy started their family with Lynn born first followed by Marty. With the job market shrinking in the Pittsburgh area, Bill took a job in Svdney, Ohio, followed by stops in Connersville, Indiana and finally in Lawrenceville, Georgia. All the while, Peggy continued her education receiving her Bachelors Degree in Nursing, and working in the medical field as a nursing instructor, floor nurse, supervisor and home care nursing. She retired when Bill became ill. After his passing, in 2002, at the urging of her brother Ron, she sought out people and activities that gave her purpose. She volunteered at her church's food bank, provided nursing care at a center for handicapped adults, joined a bowling league and found a ladies group to play cards and travel. The most fulfilling was her visits with her children, grandchildren, siblings and their families. Friends will be received Friday, August 14, 2020 from 6-8pm at The Richard D.
