FLORENCE JANE GRAY

Class of 1943

Following graduation from nursing school in 1943, Florence Jane Gray enrolled in the Nurse Anesthetist program at St. Francis Hospital. In 1944, she participated in the U. S., World War II Cadet Nursing Corps. At that time, she was residing at Climax Street, Pittsburgh.

Born on October 5, 1922, Florence was the daughter of Edward M. Gray and Catherine Hoch of Pittsburgh.

On Easter Sunday, April 21, 1946, Florence Jane Gray disappeared. Her body was found on May 1, 1946 in the Monongahela River near the Jones & Laughlin Biproduct Plant, according to her death record. The cause of death was determined to be "Asphyxiation by drowning." She is buried at St. George Cemetery, Allegheny County.
