MARTHA MARY FINCIK KRAL

Martha's parents were George Fincik, born in Austria-Hungary, and Mary Ocelovany, born in Scranton, Pennsylvania. At the time of the 1930 census of Latrobe, Westmoreland County, Pennsylvania, George was a "Retail Merchant - Phonographs." He had immigrated in 1895 and was a Naturalized Citizen. The children in 1930 were Martha, 17, and Veronica, 15.

The father, George Fincik, died on September 6, 1934.

In 1938, "Martha Marie Fincik" traveled to Poland. She is found on a passenger list for the ship "Batory" that sailed from Odynia, Poland on June 23, 1938, and arrived at New York on July 3. The record indicates that she was 26, born on August 16, 1912 in Latrobe, Pennsylvania, and she resided at 701 Hoke Street, Latrobe. According to a news article, she traveled with a "score of pilgrims" to attend the 34th Eucharistic Congress in Budapest.

The Pittsburgh Post-Gazette, Sep 3, 1940 -- "September Date Set For Wedding - Miss Martha Mary Fincik, daughter of Mrs. Mary H. Fincik of Latrobe, has chosen September twenty-sixth, her mother's birthday, for her marriage to Paul P. Kral Jr., son of Mr. and Mrs. Paul Kral of Erie street, McKeesport. - The wedding service will be read in St. Vincent's College Archabbey Church, Latrobe. - Miss Fincik is a graduate of St. Xavier's Girl's School, and St. Francis Hospital Training School."

The mother, Mary H. Fincik, died on March 30, 1968.

Martha Fincik Kral died in Ohio on January 19, 1996.

OBITUARY: Martha Kral was director of nursing at Whiteman Manor Nursing Home in Pittsburgh until retiring in 1974. - In 1975 she moved to Sheffield Lake and worked part time at Lutheran Home in Westlake for 10 years. - She moved to Avon Lake three years ago. - Mrs. Kral died Friday at her home. She was 83. - She was born in Latrobe, Pa., and graduated from Latrobe High School in 1930. - She also graduated from St. Francis School of Nursing in Latrobe [error]. - She was a member of St. Teresa Catholic Church in Sheffield and a 50-year member of Catholic Daughters of America. - She enjoyed playing bingo, doing crossword puzzles, reading and traveling worldwide. - Her husband, Paul P. Jr., is deceased. - Survivors include a sister, Veronica Duda of California, Pa. - Services will be at 9:30 a.m. tomorrow at St. Mary of the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, 2640 Stoney Ridge Rd., Avon. - Arrangements are being handled by Bogner-Busch Family Chapel in North Ridgeville. -- Plain Dealer, The (Cleveland, OH) - Sunday, January 21, 1996
