THEODORE ERWIN

Class of 1927

Theodore John Erwin was the son of Theodore Erwin (1850-1902) and Elizabeth Reichman (1857-1926). The father died in New Philadelphia, Tuscarawas County, Ohio. The mother died in Cuyahoga Falls, Summit County, Ohio. Siblings were Pearl, George W., Anna, and Ralph.

According to his 1917 World War I Draft Registration, he was born March 3, 1892 in New Philadelphia, Ohio. He was employed as a clothing store clerk.

At the time of the 1920 Federal Census, Theodore Erwin, divorced, was residing in Canton, Stark County, Ohio, with his sister and brother-in-law, Ernest and Anna Whittaker. He was employed in a rubber factory.

In the 1930 census, he was living in a boarding house on South Fairmount Avenue in Pittsburgh and was employed as an orderly in a hospital. Of course, he was actually a nurse, having graduated in 1927.

In 1940, Theodore, 47, and his wife, Margaret, 51, born in Pennsylvania and a resident of Pittsburgh in 1935, were living in Canton, Stark County, Ohio. Theodore was employed as a male nurse at a steel company. Margaret's parents were German immigrants, Adolph Beuter and Helena Steinmetz.

His World War II Registration card indicates he was a resident of Canton, Ohio, and was born on March 3, 1893. He was employed at Timken Steel Company.

He is listed in the 1952 Canton, Ohio City Directory.

Theodore died in 1961, possibly in Dade County, Florida, and he is buried at Forest Hill Cemetery, Canton. His wife, Margaret died April 3, 1966, apparently in Pittsburgh.
