CHARLOTTE MARY DOYLE OVALLE

Class of 1917

Charlotte Mary Doyle was born in Chatham, Ontario, Canada on June 18, 1890. She immigrated to the United States on September 1, 1904, and lived in Chicago through 1908, at which time she moved to the Pittsburgh area. She declared her intention to become a Naturalized Citizen in November 1917, soon after her graduation from the school of nursing. Her address at the time was 16 Warren Street, Crafton, Allegheny County. She took the Oath of Allegiance on April 21, 1919.

She was likely the Mary Charlotte Doyle born June 18, 1890 in Raleigh Twp., Kent, Ontario, the daughter of Michael and Catherine (Dillon) Doyle.

Charlotte served in the U. S. Army Nurse Corps from October 2, 1918 to February 6, 1919. She was initially at Camp Eustis, Virginia, then served at Walter Reed Hospital in Washington, D. C.

Charlotte married Dr. Felipe Elias Ovalle, born in Equador, Rio Grande do Norte, Brazil. They had a son, Felipe, Jr. born in Pittsburgh in 1934. Dr. Ovalle died in 1949, and she died December 30, 1974. Her last residence was Washington Grove, Montgomery County, Maryland. She is buried at Our Lady of Sorrows Catholic Church Cemetery, West River, Anne Arundel County, Maryland.
