At the time of the 1940 Federal Census, Josephine Cwynar, 23, was a student nurse at St. Francis Hospital. The records indicate that her home in 1935 was New Castle, Lawrence County, Pennsylvania.

Josephine Cwyner is found in the 1920 census of New Castle. She was 5 1/2, a daughter of Stanislau and Catherine, both born in Austria. Other children in the home were Pauline, 15, Julia 10, Theodore, 7, Joseph, 1.

She was born on December 20, 1914, according to her Social Security record. She married Frank Kendrall, date unknown.

Josephine's father died in 1938, and her mother in 1961.

SISTER'S OBITUARY: Pauline Cwynar Kicos, 90, of 1828 North K Street, Lake Worth, Fla., formerly of New Castle PA and Warren, Ohio, died at Hospice of West Palm Beach, Fla., at 1:25 p.m. Feb. 25, 1995, following an extended illness. - She was born in New Castle on Jan. 25, 1905, to Stanley and Catherine Barut Cwynar. - Her husband of 34 years, John Kicos, died in 1954. - Mrs. Kicos had been a press operator 22 years at Packard Electric Division of General Motors. She retired on disability. - She was Catholic. - Survivors include two daughters, Louise Poprik and Jacqueline Kicos, both of Lake Worth; two sisters, Josephine Kendrall of Temple Hills, Md., and Bernice Cwynar of New Castle; a brother, Joseph Cwynar of New Castle; two grandchildern; and five great-grandchildren. - In addition to her husband, a sister, Stella Covert, preceded her in death. - Visitation will be 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the Noga Funeral Home, 1142 S. Mill St. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10:15 a.m. Wednesday at St. Michael worship site of the St Vincent de Paul Parish. The Rev. Daniel Sweeney will serve as celebrant. Burial will follow in St. Mary Cemetery, Warren, Ohio.
