Jane Irene Cover was born on June 19, 1925 in Brooklyn, Kings County, New York. Her parents were Robert Dewitt Cover (1883-1979), and his wife, Jane Gertrude Gregory (1891-1955), whom he married in 1920.

Jane Gregory, from Cambria County, Pennsylvania, had been in the Army Nurse Corps during World War I. When she applied for Veteran Compensation in 1934, she listed no minor child. When she died in Johnstown, Cambria County, in 1955, she was buried at Forest Lawn Cemetery in Johnstown. The informant for the death certificate was Jane Irene Cadwallader, Lavonia, Michigan.

In the 1930 Federal Census of Brooklyn, New York, Robert Cover, 45, a clerk, and his wife, Jane, 40, a trained nurse, have no child listed. The only other person in the household is Jane's sister, Leatha Gregory, a Hospital Nurse.

While a student nurse at St. Francis Hospital, Jane Irene Cover participated in the U. S., World War II Cadet Nursing Corps. Jane's service is mentioned in a news article about her grandmother.

The Saratogian (NY), May 24, 1945 (NY) -- Mrs. Edwin D. Kenyon has returned to her home in Brooklyn after passing several days here with her mother, Mrs. Benjamin F. Cover, coming to pass Mother's Day and her mother's birthday anniversary with her. - Mrs. Cover who recently quietly observed her 92nd birthday anniversary, received greetings and flowers and congratulatory messages from all of her three grandchildren all of whom are in the military services. - Her grandson, Capt. Brewster Kenyon, son of Mrs. Edwin Kenyon, is stationed on an island in the Pacific, and another grandson, Cpl. J. Norman Cover, Jr., son of Mr. and Mrs. J. Norman Cover of Spring Street, is in India. - Her granddaughter, U. S. Cadet Nurse Jane Irene Cover, is in Pittsburgh in training.... [Note: The grandmother, Melissa Irene O'Bannon Cover, was almost 100 when she died in 1953.]

Jane Irene Cover married Thomas Clair Cadwallader and they resided in Livonia, Michigan. He was born in Pennsylvania in 1928, and he died in Michigan in 2002.
