MARGARET ANITA CEKORIC PETER

Class of 1947-S

When Margaret A. Cekoric was a student nurse at St. Francis, she participated in the U. S., World War II Cadet Nursing Corps. On her membership card, she stated she was born on October 24, 1924, and her father was R. Cekoric, a Laborer. The family resided on Card Avenue, Wilmerding, Allegheny County.

At the time of the 1930 Federal Census, Rudolph and Anna Cekoric lived on Card Avenue, Wilmerding, with their three children, Helen, 8, Edward, 7, and Margaret, 5.

Margaret Anita Cekoric married Arthur Sebastian Peter, Jr., originally from illinois. In 1948, the husband is listed in the City Directory of Amarillo, Texas as a student. In 1959, he was an engineer. His parents lived in Amarillo and his father died in 1951.

In 1951, in Potter, Texas, they had a son, Arthur, III. In 1956, still in Potter, they had another son, John Jason.

The mother, Anna Cekoric, died on January 24, 1965. Rudolf Cekoric died on September 3, 1978. Both death notices mention Margaret. In the former, she was "Margaret Peter of Burlington, Iowa." In 1978, she was "Marge Peter of KY."

Brother, Edward, died on July 22, 1999, at which time Margaret "Marge" survived him.

OBITUARY: Margaret PETER, 90, died Thursday [November 6, 2014]. She was Director of Nursing at Mayfair Manor for many years. She inspired warm feelings in those both for whom she worked and those she cared for. Margaret is survived by her two sons, Arthur S. Peter III and John Jason Peter.
