Wilma Clare Byers was born on March 25, 1915 in Curtisville, Allegheny County, Pennsylvania. Her parents were John Hayes Byers and Alice May Fishman.

At the time of the 1920 Federal Census of Curtisville #1, West Deer Township, Allegheny County, "Hayes J. Byers," a purchasing agent at the coal mine, lived with his wife, Alice, and his children, Russell, Catherine, Eugene, Wilma and Jack. Also in the home were Mr. Byers' parents, Ephraim and Thresa Byers.

In 1930, the family lived in Harmar Township, Allegheny County. The children of John H. and Alice M. Byers were Russell H., Catherine T., Ellis E., Wilma C., and Jack P.

During World War II, Wilma served as a 2nd Lieutenant in the Army Nurse Corps. At the time of entry into active service, she resided at the Nurses' Home at St. Francis Hospital, Pittsburgh. She served two enlistments, between June 15, 1942 and October 9, 1945, according to the Department of Veterans Affairs.

At the time she applied for Veteran Compensation, in 1950, her name was Wilma Clare Wilson and she was living in Boone, Boone County, Iowa.

She had an active nursing license at the time of her death.

Wilma Clare Wilson, born March 25, 1915, died on December 11, 1972. She is buried at Linwood Park Cemetery, Boone, Boone County, Iowa.
