OBITUARY

SMITH Rose Marie, went to be with her Lord and Savior, May 17, 2002, in Oklahoma City. She was born in Trafford, PA, on May 13, 1918.

In 1935, Rose graduated from nursing school at St. Francis Hospital in Pittsburgh, PA. From 1939 until 1945 she served as an RN at St. Francis. She then entered active duty in the US Army and attained the rank of 2nd Lieutenant. During her active duty in the US Army, Rose met and married Robert I. Smith in Fort Monroe, VA, in 1949. She and Bob also moved to Woodward, OK, in 1949 and later in 1972 to Oklahoma City. Saturday was college football day and it was especially exciting to Rose when the family's beloved Oklahoma Sooners played. She was an avid gardener and especially loved religious holidays. Rose was a loving and devoted wife and caring mother and grandmother. We were blessed to be part of her life and our life will be empty without her. Peace be with you, Rose. We love you.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert I. Smith; daughter, Susan Marie; brothers, Rudy and Frank Bryan; and sister, Lillian Bryan.

Survivors include R. Bryan Smith and wife, LeeAnn, children, Christopher and Kathryn of Edmond, Dolores A. Woodruff and husband, D.W., children, Tyler, Chase and Paige of Woodward, Joe T. Smith and wife, Jamie, children, Jordan, Jeffrey and Jenna, of Enid, and William M. Smith and wife, Jean, children, Mark, Jennifer, Daniel, Brian, and Jared of Oklahoma City; sisters, Anna and Dorothy Bryan of Fort Lauderdale, FL; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Paul Ed and Mabel Clowers of Oklahoma City; and nephews, Dennis Clowers of Oklahoma City and William J. Bryan of McMurray, PA.

Those wishing to honor Rose's memory may do so by sending memorial gifts to the American Cancer Society or Catholic Charities. A Rosary will be held at 6:30 PM, Monday, May 20, 2002, at the Smith & Kernke Chapel, 14624 North May Avenue, with Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 AM, Tuesday, May 21, at Church of the Epiphany, Oklahoma City, OK. Interment will be at Elmwood Cemetery in Woodward, OK, in the afternoon of May 21, 2002. SMITH & KERNKE 14624 N. MAY AVE
