MARIE REGINA BRADLEY DETHLEFS

Class of 1931

Marie Regina Bradley, born May 28, 1910, was the daughter of George Leo Bradley, a Restaurant Proprietor, and Mary Ann Hanlon, residents of Swissvale, Allegheny County, Pennsylvania at the time of the 1920 Federal Census. Their children in 1920 were Felix, Isabelle, Cecelia, John, and "Mary R.," age 9.

By 1930, the parents and some of their children lived on Emahalia Street, Pittsburgh, and Mr. Bradley was employed as a Draftsman at the steel mill. Marie Bradley was not listed in the home, but was named as a student nurse, 20, in the 1930 census of the St. Francis Hospital.

Marie married William C. Dethlefs, and they lived with extended family in the Bradley home at 526 Emahalia Street at the time of the 1940 census. William Dethlefs was a Chemist in the chemical industry, and he and Marie had a two year old daughter, Marie Isabelle.

Marie Bradley Dethlefs, 526 Emahlia St., Pittsburgh, is named in a list of Pennsylvania Registered Nurses, 1940-1941.

Marie's mother died of metastatic breast cancer on April 23, 1941. The father, George Leo Bradley, died February 13, 1943.

Marie and William Dethlefs eventually moved to Andover, Ohio. As late as October 31, 1985, Marie Dethfels, a resident of Andover, Ohio, maintained her Registered Nurse License in Pennsylvania. She died in 1986 and her husband in 1987.
