Eleanor Bevacqua, the daughter of Giacomino "Jack" and Rose M. Bevacqua, was raised with her siblings, John and Rosemarie, in Castle Shannon, Allegheny County, Pennsylvania.

On June 6, 1959, Eleanor married Dr. Donald Paul Vrabec of Smock, a small coal town in Fayette County, Pa.

Dr. Vrabec served in the U.S. Army and became a renowned otolaryngologist. Many articles are found online in conjunction with his practice at Geisinger Medical Center, Danville, Pennsylvania.

The House of Care on the campus of the Geisinger Medical Center, was dedicated to Dr. Donald and Eleanor Vrabec in 2000. Dr. Vrabec served as the head of the otolaryngology and head and neck surgery department at Geisinger, 1984-2000. The house was opened in 1984 after Dr. Vrabec stated the need for the house to Geisinger’s cancer committee. He and Eleanor also served as volunteers. The home provides low-cost lodging for adult patients with cancer and their families.

Dr. Tamara Vrabec, MD, daughter of Dr. Donald and Eleanor Vrabec, is an ophthalmologist at Geisinger Medical Center. Their son, Keith Vrabec, MD, works in Emergency Medicine at Geisinger. Information about other children, if any, is not known.

Eleanor's sister, Rosemarie, a pharmacist, died of cancer on September 3, 1984. Her father died in January 1987, and her mother, Rose, died April 4, 2005 at the age of 97.
