Marion Bernott was born in Pennsylvania in 1920, according to the 1940 census, at which time she was a student nurse at St. Francis. The record indicates she lived in the Duquesne section of Pittsburgh in 1935.

During World War II, Marion Frances Bernott served as a Flight Nurse in the Army Nurse Corps, between November 1, 1942 and December 12, 1945.

When Marion F. Bernott applied for a license to marry Albert K. Owen, Jr. in December 1945, she did not list an occupation. She did, however, state that she was born on March 9, 1920 at Duquesne, Pa. Her parents were Carl Bernott and Ann Stulpin?, both born in Lithuania. The couple married on December 29, 1945 at Homestead, Allegheny County. The license application states that Mr. Owen, born in Tennessee, had been honorably discharged from the U.S. Army and was a student at Vanderbilt University in Nashville.

In 1950, when Marion applied for Veteran Compensation for her war service, her address was Dayton, Montgomery County, Ohio.

Marion Frances Bernott Owen died on August 27, 1978 at Greene County, Ohio. She is buried at Calvary Cemetery, Kettering, Montgomery County, Ohio. Her husband remarried.

Funeral services were held Nov. 29 from the chapel of Bilbrey Funeral Home, with the Rev. Lanita Monroe officiating. Burial was in Calvary Cemetery in Dayton, OH. - Mr. Owen was born July 23, 1921, in Nashville, the son of Albert Kirkland Owen Sr. and Mattie Lou (Comstock) Owen. - He was retired from the Department of Defense and was a member of the Fairfield Glade United Methodist Church, American Legion and the Elks Club. He served in the Army Air Corps as a navigator during World War II. - Survivors include his wife, Kathryn Ruth (Paul) Owen of Fairfield Glade; sons, Albert Karl Owen (Julie) of North Royalton, OH, and Richard A. Owen (Sallie) of Maiden, NC; stepson, James F. Carey (Sue) of Leavenworth, KS; four grandchildren; and one great-grandchild. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Marion (Bernott) Owen; and sisters, Evelyn Burkepile, June LaFevere and Jean Smith. Bilbrey Funeral Home, Inc.
